Renaissance DeEsser reduces sibilance through a phase-compensated crossover, which is what stops it colouring the rest of the signal while it works. The display shows filter type, range, frequency and the de-essing as it happens, so the amount being removed is visible rather than inferred. Strong or gentle modes run in wideband or split operation. It matters most on vocals, voiceover, audiobooks and podcasts, where harsh esses distort and make later EQ harder.
