PuigTec models two Pultec passive equalisers, the EQP-1A for highs and lows and the MEQ-5 for midrange, from Jack Joseph Puig's own maintained units. Passive circuitry shapes tone gently, which is why these have stayed in mastering chains for over fifty years and why the EQP-1A remains the standard answer for fat, punchy bass and drums. They enrich vocals, guitars and synths just as well, and suit mixing as much as mastering.
