The CLA-76 is a FET compressor, so it responds far faster than the optical designs and distorts in a way closer to valve saturation. Its attack and release track drum dynamics closely, which accounts for most of its reputation. Two units are modelled from Chris Lord-Alge's own maintained hardware, Bluey and Blacky, each a different revision with its own tonal weight. A modelled preamp supplies the aggressive edge, and the presets are his.
