Overview
Optical, but quicker.
The CLA-3A pairs solid-state circuitry with optical gain reduction, giving a fast attack and a gentle release. With no valves in the path it colours far less than the 2A, adding only a trace of harmonic distortion, which is why it suits guitar, bass and drums where the note needs to stay intact. It handles high-level transients well and pushes midrange instruments forward. A limiter mode extends sustain, and a mix control covers parallel use.
