X-Crackle deals with the low-level crackle and surface noise sitting underneath a whole record, rather than the isolated clicks X-Click targets. Psychoacoustic algorithms decide what is noise and what is programme, which is what keeps the music intact while the surface is cleaned. Attenuation runs from slight to strong, and a threshold control adapts it to how badly a particular transfer is affected.
