UM225 and UM226 upmix stereo material to 5.0 and 5.1 respectively, which is what legacy stereo needs before it can go into a surround or immersive delivery. Eight modes spread different kinds of programme material between the front and surround speakers appropriately, and ambience controls make the surround stage smaller or larger. UM226 adds LoAir, generating an octave-lower harmonic for rumble and effects.
