PS22 turns mono into stereo using a frequency-based process rather than delay or phase tricks, which is why the result folds back to mono without the hollow sound older wideners produce. Mono guitars, electric pianos, analog synths and archive recordings are the usual candidates. It works in reverse too, narrowing overly wide stereo material for vinyl mastering or tightening selected frequency ranges, and its parameters automate for sound design.
