The one that started it.
The L1 was Waves' first limiter and the plugin that made software limiting credible, used to control peaks, reshape the character of an instrument, or push a master louder. It combines look-ahead peak limiting with level maximisation and IDR dithering in one stage, so limiting and requantisation happen together rather than as separate steps. True peak limiting handles inter-sample overs, which streaming delivery requires, and latency is low enough for live use.
