Electric 88 is a sampled tine electric piano, the sound behind Stevie Wonder, Herbie Hancock, the Doors and Steely Dan. It was sampled key by key from a single well-chosen instrument, so response varies across the keyboard the way it does on the real thing. Controls for tine, key up and key thump restore the mechanical noise that makes it read as played rather than triggered, and amp, drive and mic controls supply the 70s stage sound.
