The DTS Neural Surround Collection converts between channel formats in real time, upmixing stereo to 5.1 or 7.1, downmixing surround back to stereo, and turning mono into stereo. It is built under licence from DTS and meets the compliance requirements broadcast and post work to, which is what separates it from a creative widener. The usual applications are film, post-production and live sports or music broadcast, where material arrives in one format and has to leave in another.
