Overview

The piano that was never built.

1959 brings to life an electroacoustic piano that only ever existed on paper, in a patent registered in 1959. Sampleson generates it with spectral modelling rather than samples, and the whole 88-key instrument installs in about 65 MB. The voice sits close to a CP80, a little more tightly tuned because the design uses fewer strings, and the modelled action opens from warm lows to a metallic shine when played hard. Separate amounts govern resonance, hammer noise and release sound, and a static noise emulator sits alongside them.
