Overview

Faithful to the desk, or free of its limits.

MBSI recreates one channel of the custom console MCI built for Studio C at Criteria Studios in Miami, and was developed with Metric Halo and producer Bill Szymczyk. It offers mic and line, dynamics and three-band EQ sections and a fader, along with a model of the desk's stereo bus output. Classic mode keeps the original's stepped controls and its limits; Modern mode lifts those limits and adds a compressor module the original desk never had.

Highlights

Modelled box tone on the input, dynamics and EQ stages
Three-band EQ: bell-shelf low and high bands, sweepable mid bell
Interactive EQ whose Q shifts with gain and frequency
Continuous Modern-mode controls that can snap to Classic steps
Modern-mode mid-band cuts and simultaneous high and low cut
A Modern-mode compressor drawing on the 1176 and dbx 160
Selectable oversampling up to 16x
iLok licence with two activations; a dongle is optional
