Howie's 179.
A model of Howie Weinberg's NTP 179-120 compressors.

Overview
Weight and glue, not loudness.
Howie's 179 models the two NTP 179-120 compressor/limiters that mastering engineer Howie Weinberg owns, a design built in 1975 for Neumann's earliest mastering consoles. Make Believe Studios and Metric Halo captured his specific units, boxtone and distortion included. Its streamlined controls reflect the settings Howie found most useful over a four-decade career, and unlike hardware in an analogue loop, every setting recalls with the session. It belongs on the stereo bus, holding a mix together without calling attention to itself.
