Silk brings bowed, plucked and wind instruments from China, India and Persia into EastWest's Opus player, from erhu and pipa to bansuri, duduk and qanun. Microtuning shaped to each instrument steers melodies towards their own traditions, while recorded legato intervals and phrase performances let lines flow with little controller work. A script varies repeated notes by borrowing a neighbouring sample, nudging the start or detuning by a few cents. It suits composers whose scores and mock-ups need an authentic world colour.
