Forbidden Planet.
A hybrid synth of analogue and cinematic samples.

Overview
Synths beyond the oscillator.
Forbidden Planet builds its sounds from samples rather than oscillators: producers Doug Rogers and Nick Phoenix combined electronic synth layers with orchestral, choral, world and sound-effect recordings, all captured through an analogue signal chain. Each preset sets two contrasting sources on a central XY pad, where moving sideways blends them and moving up or down sweeps the filter. A mod envelope and step LFO on the filter cutoff, plus a separate arpeggiator for each source, keep things moving, from slow drones to choppy ostinatos for soundtracks and electronic music.
