Ancient Kingdom puts Saulius Petreikis's collection of wind instruments into EastWest's Opus software, from Armenian duduk and Japanese shakuhachi to Lithuanian birbyne, Slovak fujara and a Viking war horn. Its mixer pairs four microphone positions with four FX mixes, recorded through amplifiers, megaphones, tubes and rotating speakers that bring the attack forward, so a natural performance and an otherworldly one sit on the same faders. True Legato patches and three Mood presets, which swap mic blend and reverb in one step, serve traditional writing and experimental soundscapes alike.
