DrumX gathers ten sampled classic drum machines, from the TR-808 and LinnDrum to the SP-12, on one 16-pad instrument. Rather than modelling the hardware, EastWest recorded most machines' own controls, such as the 808 kick's Tone and Decay, at every setting, and lets each pad run clean or through Studer tape. Transient, Drive, Crush and Comp macros shape the full kit. For producers of pop, R&B, hip hop and dance, Jimmy Jam's grooves give a starting point with the pocket built in, to reprogramme or drag into a DAW as MIDI.
