Melodyne 5 essential analyses audio into notes, shown as blobs you drag to new pitches and positions. The smallest of the four Melodyne 5 editions has every algorithm except DNA but only the Main Tool, plus macros for pitch, timing and levelling. That covers lead vocals, monophonic instruments and drums, and whole mixes can be transposed or stretched. Vibrato and formant tools begin with assistant, and notes inside piano or guitar chords need the DNA algorithm of editor or studio.
