ACE (Any Cable Everywhere) is a semi-modular synthesizer with a sensible default architecture you can rewire at will. Any output can patch to any input, with no distinction between audio and control signals, so LFOs become oscillators and envelopes become waveshapers. Two analogue-modelled oscillators and filters, flexible modulation and a built-in effects section make it an approachable gateway into modular thinking.
