What you hear is what you see.
EQuivocate splits the signal into 26 triangular, linear-phase filters, spaced by default along the Mel scale to approximate the critical bands of the inner ear. Unlike IIR graphic EQs, these FIR filters stay flat with every band at zero and avoid the way IIR bands pull on their neighbours, so the sound follows the sliders. Match EQ reads a sidechain to pull a mix towards a reference or carve room for a vocal in a finished beat; switch it off and the curve stays as a static EQ to refine by hand.
