Instant Phaser Mk II.
A model of a 1970s analogue phaser whose parts can age.

Overview
The rack effect that imitated tape.
Instant Phaser Mk II models Eventide's first studio effect, a rack unit that imitated tape flanging with all-pass networks because artificial delay did not yet exist. Shallow, Deep and Wide modes vary the number of phase-shift sections, and Wide shifts each channel differently to spread a mono guitar or synth across the stereo field. The sweep can be drawn in as automation, driven by an oscillator or envelope, or mapped to a mod wheel, while Age drifts the circuit's components as years of use would, then further still.
Highlights
Shallow, Deep or Wide mode; Wide spreads mono into stereo
Four sweep sources: Manual, Oscillator, Envelope and Remote (mod wheel)
Side-chain input lets another track trigger the envelope follower
Age control simulates drift in the phase networks and LFO
Sync and Retrig controls for the oscillator
Depth control blends the phased and dry signals
Feedback control makes the phasing more pronounced
Activates with an iLok account; no physical dongle needed
