Acclaim Audio releases a separate installer for each plugin, so you only download the ones you bought. Set aside about ten minutes. You will need the activation code from your licence email.

How to install and activate

Set up iLok

    Create a free iLok account and install iLok License Manager

    ESION products are licensed through iLok. If you do not already have an iLok account, go to ilok.com, click Create Free Account and choose a User ID and password — write them down, you will need them in a moment. Then download the iLok License Manager app from the same site and install it on the computer you will use ESION on. Already have an iLok account and the app? Skip to the next step.

    TIPYou do not need to buy an iLok USB key. Your ESION licence can live on your computer itself.

    CHECKPOINT

    iLok License Manager opens and you can sign in with your iLok User ID and password.

Get your licence

    Find your activation code

    It is in your licence email from us — one code for each ESION product you bought. This is an iLok activation code: it is redeemed inside the iLok License Manager app, not on a web page, and it is not the licence itself — the licence appears in your iLok account once the code is redeemed.

    TIPBought more than one ESION product? Each has its own code. Redeem them one at a time.

    Redeem the code in iLok License Manager

    Open iLok License Manager and sign in. In the Licenses menu at the very top of the window, choose Redeem Activation Code. An Enter Activation Codes window appears — paste your code into the left-most box and it fills in the rest of the boxes for you. Confirm, and the ESION licence is deposited into your iLok account.

    TIPPaste the whole code into the first box. Typing it box by box is not needed.

    CHECKPOINT

    The ESION licence now appears in your iLok account's licence list, ready to activate.

    Activate the licence to your computer

    In iLok License Manager, right-click the new ESION licence and choose Activate, then pick where it should live — your computer's name, or your iLok USB key if you own one. You can also drag the licence onto your computer's name in the left-hand list. Click Activate.

    TIPEach ESION licence comes with one activation, so pick the computer you will actually run ESION on.

    The licence shows as activated on your computer in iLok License Manager.

Install ESION

    Download the installer for your product

    Go to Acclaim Audio's download page and pick your product — ESION Studio, ESION Leveler, ESION Restore or the ESION Studio Extension for Media Composer. Choose the installer for your computer: a Windows .exe, or for Mac the Intel or Apple Silicon .dmg.

    TIPThe installer is the same one trial users download — that is expected. Your iLok licence is what turns it into the full version.

    Run the installer

    Windows: open the .exe and follow the prompts. Mac: open the .dmg, then open the .pkg inside it and follow the prompts (the .dmg also contains the user guide and a readme). Your first ESION product installs just over 3 GB of shared files, so it takes a while; any further ESION products share those files and install much faster. You need an internet connection during installation.

    TIPThe installer adds a MATLAB Runtime folder to your Applications (Mac) or Program Files (Windows). Do not delete it — ESION needs it to run.

    CHECKPOINT

    The installer has finished and ESION is in your Applications folder (Mac) or Start menu (Windows).

    Open ESION

    Launch ESION. With the licence activated on this computer it opens as the full version. If instead you see an Activate button, click it, paste the same activation code into the left-most box (green ticks appear under each part when it is right), then sign in with your iLok User ID and password and choose your computer as the location for the licence.

    TIPGreen ticks mean the code was accepted; a red X means a typo — paste the code again from your licence email.

    CHECKPOINT

    ESION opens without asking you to activate. You are done.

ESION Studio, ESION Leveler and ESION Restore are subscription licences — how long the licence lasts depends on the term you bought (monthly or annual); the licence is placed in your iLok account the same way whichever term you chose. The ESION Studio Extension for Media Composer installs inside Avid Media Composer rather than as a standalone app; Acclaim Audio's extension user guide does not describe a separate activation route, so follow the same iLok steps and email esion@acclaim-audio.com if the extension asks you for something different.

If something goes wrong

My code is not accepted

Codes are entered exactly as sent — paste rather than retype, and keep or drop dashes exactly as the steps say. Still stuck? Contact us with your order number and we will sort it, usually the same day.

The plug-in does not show up in my music program

Check you installed the format your program uses and rescan its plug-in folders. The Acclaim Audio help pages cover each program's scan settings.

I bought this but have no email

Check spam first — licence emails arrive within minutes of payment. Nothing there? Contact us and we will resend it.

Each product has its own installer, and codes only unlock the product they were issued for — work down your order one at a time.
